Clams are an energy powerhouse with essential nutrients.

Shellfish is a delicious way to get your seafood fix packed with essential nutrients.   Get to know why clams are such a energy powerhouse with nutrition Expert Anne Assassi, and check out this amazing recipe for Linguine with Herb Broth and Clams!

Clam linguine anyone? Because I’m pretty sure I can hear you saying “yes please!” Clams, like other shellfish, contain high quality protein and Omega-3 fatty acids.

Equally important, in my opinion, they also have a lot of vitamin B12! I like to include B12 often in my diet because it helps to keep my body energized, my nervous system healthy, and my metabolism in check. A half dozen cooked clams has only 166 calories, but can supply 40 times the required daily amount of vitamin B12, making them one of the top sources of B12.

They are also a fantastic source of heme iron that can be readily absorbed by the body, right up there with other animal and meat sources.  This makes clams a great way to get some of the key nutrients for energy benefits typically obtained from animal sources, without all the saturated fat.

Plus, this Linguine With Herb Broth and Clams recipe adapted from Bon Appetit is just so simple and delicious. Prepare easily on a weeknight. I like serving it up with a small glass of white wine too!
